phil weeks ~ crate diggin ~ project has been bubbling under for some time while the french dj/producer carefully selected 30 of the tracks which have been most influential to him over the past 15-20 years. indeed many of the tracks - from artists including dj rasoul, dj sneak, brett johnson, inland knights, rick wade, mood ii swing and lawnchair generals - still feature as heavily in phils dj sets today as they did when originally released. released over three vinyl samplers, * crate diggin* is a window into the musical dna of one of the most respected and prolific underground house artists of this century. as well as being a highly personal project to phil, it offers a rare chance to finally pick up hard-to-find and sought after gems that were only previously released on vinyl.

the third diskotopia release of 2013 comes transmitted from somewhere out in deep space, courtesy of label mainstay, rbma alumni & tender hooks co-founder mau lin. building on from last years excellently received function open ep, mau lin continues his exploration of ruff and rugged polyrhythmic techno abstractions in fine style. the four original tracks which comprise the quotient ep, plus a stunning boxwork remix, are mau lins strongest and most visceral tracks to date.

every label has a >release of doom<, a 12 inch that was an incredible pain in the ass to put together and where everything imaginable went wrong. well this new trevino record was it! i wont go into details but this ep is too good to let bad karma prevail. >gone< has been a staple in my sets ever since i first heard it and >regnie< is possibly one of the best nighttime highway driving tracks (try it!). trevino, is he the best golfer in techno, or the most innovative techno producer on the golf circuit? fact is, im so happy this record finally sees the light of day and would be even happier if youd be into it too...

i-robots is an alias of opilec music boss gianluca pandullo, a long time dj and producer with a penchant for classic techno and electro cosmic disco. for his next project in the esteemed i-robots reconstructions concept series the italian re-edits some classic material, all with the permission of the original artists. the tracks in question are derrick mays hugely influential *emanon* cut, recorded under his rhythim is rhythim alias and originally released in the 1990s on his own seminal transmat records label – one of the most important imprints in the early days of techno alongside kms and metroplex. the second track – which was first released on metroplex, the label juan atkins founded in 1985 and then re-released and reworked on sound vision - is *game one* produced by the legendary juan atkins and orlando voorn as infiniti. the latter of these pair has already released a number of times on the opilec music label.

raised in haifa, israel, now located in amsterdam, this duo of sonic explorers have had acclaimed releases on a host of cult labels like psychostasia, underground quality, dekmantel & many more. having already released the incredible *release the golem pt. 1* & *jewsex* on everyones favourite nyc label, the pair make ready with their most claustrophobic and menacing outing yet. the original version on the a side stays in the same tempo territory as their dekmantel classic *african flower* but concocts a much more spacious and heady atmosphere, reminiscent of mark gages vapourspce project. side b takes us directly to the dancefloor, utilising the same bubbling bass sequence but transposing it onto a devastingly propulsive rhythm track, like the angry cousin of their *bleached roots* and *powow* classics. a formidablle force in modern dance music, at the height of their powers!

lil jabba isnt like the rest of them. while they are busy joining the dots between house and techno or whatever is safe right now, he is throwing paint all over the page. he is not american, but he is affiliated with chicagos teklife crew (dj spinn, dj rashad, etc.) and divides his time between baltimore and brooklyn, exhibiting his visual art, riding around with his bike gang and making some of the most hypnotic juke and footwork you will ever hear. local action have been figuring out a release with him for over a year - eventually an ep wasnt enough, and they persuaded him to make it a full-length album, scales. some of scales has already seen the light of day through youtube or limited cassette releases, some of it is unheard. some tracks sound cleaner than others, that is because they are newer. that is how these things work. what is consistent throughout scales is the quality: across 12 tracks, jabba flips, twists and inverts the footwork template with endless layers of samples, gurgled vocal tags, jazz licks and whatever else he feels like. these arent trax, they are tapestries.

recording artists jimi tenor & nicole willis who are life partners as well as past collaborators, reunite for their new project, artist name cola&jimmu, cola, a kind of pseudonym of nicole and jimmu, associated with the legend of the first emperor of japan, jimnu tenno. both tenor and willis have fronted their own projects over the past decade, willis most recently working with helsinki - based group the soul investigators, for their albums tortured soul & keep reachin up, timmion records 2005, 2013
